In early December 1891, a Canadian sports teacher wrote the basic rules of a new game called basketball. He hung two fruit baskets at the opposite ends of a gymnasium at a height of ten feet. His students used a football to shoot goals. Whenever a student got the ball in the basket, they won a point for their team.
Team sport involves players cooperating to achieve an objective and to compete with rival teams. Although academic success is considered to be more important than physical strength in today’s world, physical competition still exists in order for humans to practice their instinctive urges to interact as a team.
Football hooliganism has been a problem in England for many years. It is believed to have started in the late nine teenth century, when certain football supporters began to cause minor disturbances. By the 1960s, hooliganism had become a more serious issue, with increasingly violent behaviour being carried out.
A popular legend describes how, after he had completed his twelve labours, Heracles built a stadium and a collection of buildings around it to honour his father, Zeus. Young men then took part in sporting events in the stadium to prove their strength and fitness. The tradition was revived in 1896, and is now the most famous sports event in the world.
There is no clear difference between the amount of force need ed to knock a person unconscious and the amount of force needed to kill a person, which is what makes boxing such a risky activity. Many amateur boxers have been killed in the ring, while others have suffered brain damage or permanent injuries.
Edward Paul Sheringham has had an extremely successful career as a striker and has won many important matches with his various clubs. He has also represented England in interna tional games. Born on 2nd ApriL 1966, Sheringham holds the record for the oldest man to score in the Premiership.
The Chinese engaged in sporting activities, including gymnastics, as early as
