Тип урока: обобщающий урок по теме «Проблемы окружающей среды»

Цель урока: обобщение лексико-грамматического материала по теме «Проблемы окружающей среды»

Сопутствующие задачи: совершенствование произносительных навыков, навыков чтения и аудирования с общим пониманием

Познавательная цель: знакомство с творчеством Луи Армстронга и Антуана де Сент-Экзюпери, деятельностью наиболее известных обществ защитников природы

^ Развивающая цель: развитие речемыслительных функций (анализ, сопоставление,

комбинирование, отбор информации), памяти, внимания, воображения

Воспитательная цель: воспитание ценностного отношения к природе, бережливости,

Уважительного отношения к этическим нормам, эстетического вкуса, творчества

^ Речевой материал: лексика и грамматика по теме «Проблемы окружающей среды»

Оснащение: учебник, презентация Power Point, мультимедийная установка, карточки для заданий, стихи.

Ход урока:

  1. Introduction.

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls. Today we are going to sum up everything we have learned about nature and the importance of its protection. During our discussion we must answer three questions:

  • Why must we protect nature?

  • How can we protect nature?

  • Whose responsibility is it to protect nature?

I think you all agree that our planet is really beautiful. What is the most attractive place on earth, do you think?

Pupils: Seas and oceans, forests and fields, rivers, mountains …

Teacher: Yes, we can see a lot of beautiful places on our planet. Can you say that we live in a wonderful world?

Pupils: Yes, we can.


  1. Listening.

Teacher: Then I would like you to listen to the song and say what makes our world wonderful. The singer is a famous American black jazz musician Louis Armstrong.

^ I see trees of green, red roses too
I watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world


I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more, than I'll ever know

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of the people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, "I love you"

Pupils: The most wonderful things are trees of green, red roses bloom, skies of blue, clouds of white, the rainbow

Teacher: You are absolutely right. Now look at the screen: what is it? It’s a shooting star, a meteorite. And here is someone who is going to be our guest.

^ Little Prince: My name is Little Prince. I’m from planet 612. The French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote a book about me. My planet is very small. There is only one rose there. I love my little rose very much and think it is the most beautiful flower. I have decided to travel. So here I am on your planet. Tell me about it, please.

Teacher: Let’s think what we can tell our guest about our planet.

^ Little Prince: I agree that your planet is beautiful. My planet is small. I always keep it clean and tidy. My rule is: After getting up, make your place tidy. Do you follow this rule too?

Pupils: Yes, we do/ No we don’t.

Teacher: Unfortunately, the earth is now suffering from many ecological problems. What problems are the most dangerous?

^ Little Prince: It’s really very sad to hear. When I came to earth, I wanted to drink but the water was dirty. I wanted to smell some flowers, but they have withered. I wanted to play with birds and animals, but I only saw some dead ones.

Teacher: Yes, the situation is really dramatic. But people everywhere in the world realize the danger and try to save the planet. They get together in groups. Whose logos are these? What do these organizations do? Read the information and decide whose logos these are.

- Green Peace - an international environmental organization founded in 1969 in Canada. Members of this organization are always active and brave. There are offices in many countries including Russia.

- RSPCA-Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - a charity organization in Britain, founded in 1824, which protects animals.

- WWF-World Wide Fund - an international organization founded in 1961 to raise money for the conservation of some endangered species of animals. Its symbol is a big panda.

- RSPB-Royal Society of Preserving Birds - a volunteer organization in Britain which was founded in 1889 with the aim of protection of wild birds. The society has over 1 million members.





  1. Competition

Teacher: Now our pupils can prove that they are friends of nature. Let’s divide into two teams to complete the task. The best team will get a prize from Little Prince.
1/ Look at this grid and find the names of endangered animals.

( a car – exhaust fumes, a fur coat – fur animals, washing powder – water pollution)

^ Little Prince: I can see that you are true friends of your planet. Here is my prize – a red rose.

Teacher: What can you personally do to help the world? Choose from the list and say what you actually do.

  • I can walk or use a bicycle instead of going by car.

  • I can't make litter with paper, cans or bottles.

  • I can plant more trees.

  • I can feed birds in winter and help them survive in the cold.

  • I can save energy. I can use less electricity and gas. I will turn off the lights when I leave a room.

  • I can clear rubbish from lakes and rivers.

  • I will have showers, not baths. Showers use less water.


Pupil 2: recites the poem “Yours and Mine”

The sun, the trees, the grass, the sky,

^ Little Prince.: I hope people on earth are wise and careful. You must take good care of your beautiful planet.

Teacher: Little Prince believes that only he himself can keep his planet clean and beautiful. We must try and do the same on our planet. Let’s recite a vow of Nature’s friend and always remember it .

Teacher: at home I would like you to design an ecological t-shirt. You can draw a picture and think of something to write on it to make people remember that the earth is our home. Here are some t-shirts that other pupils designed. Thank you for your work today.
